Jason Rogers is a self proclaimed computer geek and web standards fanatic.
He recieved
his
BA
in
Psychology
from
San José State University
and is currently pursuing a PhD in experimental psychology at Washington
State University, Pullman. He has been working with the Perceptual
and Behavioral Adaptation Group in Human
Information Processing Research Branch in the Human
Factors Research and Technology Division at NASA
Ames Research Center since 1996.
His psychology training gives him an understanding of human thinking,
learning, and perceptual processes, which he uses to emphasize ease-of-use
in his site designs. Further, his combined skills of data management, web development,
and human thinking have enabled him to leverage site designs that are datacenteric
and provide immediate accessibility to information that web site visitors will
need.
His most recent project is titled "Mission Control." Mission Control is a
Content Management System (CMS) written in PHP which updates information in
a MySQL database. This database is used to display information on numerous
web
sites
within the
Human Factors Research
and Technology Division at NASA
Ames Research Center. The Mission
Control CMS allows news, events, highlights, personnel records, and publications
to be easily accessible to web site visitors and it will filter the content
of the database to match the web site that is attempting to access the database.
This has removed a great deal of replicated effort from scientists and web
developers as they attempted to update their web sites.
His web development skills include:
- Graphics Editing (Photoshop, Fireworks, PaintShop Pro)
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
- PHP
- SQL/MySQL
- HTML
- JavaScript
- Section 508 compliance, web sites for the disabled.
Jason makes all of his web sites standards compliant in order to reach the
broadest audience possible.
