Cheryl’s love for the ocean began with her first trip to the water’s edge. A second-generation California native, the ocean was never far away. However, while the passion was strong, the comfort level did not come easily. Her many attempts to become a part of the ocean were confined to the waters edge, photographing waves and sunsets.

Finally in 2000 the opportunity arose to take a semester long dive class while attending graduate school. Since that first class she has continued her dive education and become a mentor to other new divers.

Because of her own challenges, Cheryl excels at being able to help those with underwater concerns, but with the strong desire to dive. Her supportive reassuring style brings confidence to students while instilling a sense of fun. Her desire for underwater exploration also encourages environmental conscientiousness and respect.
